Hip-hop a culture and genre that is slowly taking over airwaves of most of the country’s top radio stations has seen many young and talented hip-hop artists emerging under the umbrella they like to call Zim hip-hop. Amiz is one of those who are on verge of a new merge and taking Zim hip-hop to greater heights.
Born Kunashe Kutama on the 16th of February 1990 in Gweru and raised in the small town of Marondera were he did both his primary and half of his secondary education, later relocating to the capital Harare.
He released his first track under Refugee Records in 2008 titled “if I could change my life” the track was produced by Moral. In 2009, he left the country for Beira, Mozambique to go and study Portuguese whilst in Mozambique he continued as a circuit club disc jockey later making a transgression to become a rapper and beat maker.
His music is his way of expressing himself and within no time he had created hype in the city undoubtedly and his plan was to come back home and continue producing music which he successfully did in 2010. During this period, he was able to put together a mixed tape with the title track “the sound track of my life”. Amiz has featured and done collaborations with a number of famous Mozambican artists.
2013 saw him working with Rodney “TG” Sibanda under his record label Victory records that saw the release of Zvakadzora, which saw him being recognized as an artist, the track has been a great success and is talk around town. His second offering is a track titled Sango reShumba which is under his Lost Dynasty empire label. Amiz describes Sango reShumba “from the midst of the hate jungles of the society rises a rapper with the spirit of a lion where emotion creatures rules the food chains in the industry but the end has come.
